Wanderlust and lost

Two hopeless romantics find themselves in need of a fake relationship; Tessa wants to escape stalker ex-boyfriend and Greer wants to make a name for himself in the MMA world. What better way for him to do that then to pretend to date the ex of his next opponent and make the world believe they have fallen in love?

There are different ways Brooke Burton could have taken the plot in Wanderlust and Found and the way she chose was underwhelming and confusing.

Don’t get me wrong I love Tessa and Greer’s chemistry together. The spice was on par with everything I expected from a fake romance, but it just felt rushed and the plot change was distracting. There was no real build up or story line.

The main plot gets lost when she adds another plot to find Tessa’s grandmothers long lost necklace and sends the two fake lovers on a road trip to track this neckless down before the weekend is over. Losing its focus on the ex and the MMA fight all together.

I wanted a fake relationship with a bit of push and pull and dramatic flair for the public, but there was no real backstory for each character leading up to the fake relationship, nothing about their relationship even felt fake. It was instant sparks and chemistry; then a dramatic make out scene in the first chapter

The stalker ex didn’t even show up much except for a “Hey don’t forget about me” moment in the middle of the book that ultimately led to nothing. That plot line fell flat and unfortunately never came back into play.

The third point of view also didn’t help me connect with either character. Some people love seeing the world created this way, but for me it is honestly harder to not only connect with characters but see their point of views clearly. In a trope where not communicating is part of the plot it was hard to judge how each person really felt.

It is because of this that I could not finish the last six chapters of the book. I skimmed through the chapters and read what the characters said to each other, but it was a struggle to finish.

Wanderlust and Found was not a romance book for me, but that doesn’t mean others won’t fall in love with Tess and Greer. I however fell into the Wanderlust and lost and will be giving this book two out of five stars and three chili peppers for its spicy scenes.
